About the project

The project proposes a protective enclosure for the ruins of a church in Dolj damaged by fire. The brief responds to the heritage authorities’ request to protect the surviving ruin.

A glazed envelope and pitched roof define a volume that keeps the surviving walls visible. Dark structural profiles distinguish the contemporary intervention, while transparency maintains a visual connection between the ruin and its surroundings.

The four images are architectural visualisations of the design proposal.
