What does the statement refer to?
A designer’s qualification describes a competence of the person. Building certification concerns a specific project and its assessment against the applicable criteria. The former does not replace the latter.
The Passive House Institute’s process includes checking the documentation and evidence from construction, including an airtightness test and ventilation commissioning records.
How we present this information.
Alexandru Zorlescu is a certified Passive House designer. This qualification forms part of his professional profile.
M22 is presented through its architecture, photographs and design documents. It is not presented as a certified Passive House building. An envelope detail explains a design decision; on its own, it does not demonstrate the performance of the whole house.
A useful question at the beginning.
Before selecting solutions, clarify the objective and the documents that will be used to assess it. Agree with the team who designs, calculates, tests and verifies.
Results should be tied to the project they concern. A convincing photograph or a general statement about efficiency does not replace the relevant documents.
