About the project
Liberating forms is the proposal by architect Alexandru Zorlescu for the Acasă la Brâncuși 2023 competition in Gorj. Three boards present gateways for the approaches from Târgu Jiu, Brădiceni and Tismana.
The concept explores the gateway as a connection between spaces and an invitation to contemplation. Solid and void, together with the surrounding landscape, reinterpret motifs from Constantin Brâncuși’s sculptural world.
The Târgu Jiu approach brings together forms inspired by the egg and the bird, linked through stone and the space between them. The Brădiceni proposal focuses on stone and references to millstones, alongside the idea of a sequence of steps.
For the Tismana approach, the concept proposes a stylised fragment inspired by the Gate of the Kiss. Polished stainless steel reflects the light and landscape, while the central opening invites passage and encounter. The gallery preserves the complete competition boards and their concept explanations.
